Chocolate Pancakes


As pancake day approaches our thoughts turn to the delicious smell of warmly cooked pancakes topped with sweet syrup drizzle. Pancakes have long been a tradition more commonly referred to as Shrove Tuesday this celebration has been shared and passed down through the generations which mark the start of the Christian observance of Lent.


Nowadays pancake day is a tradition shared and enjoyed by almost everyone I know, so whether you like traditional lemon and sugar or you opt for the sweet sticky taste of honey, golden syrup or maple syrup pancakes are a delicious treat, but this year we wanted to try something a little different but still as tasty so here are our Chocolate Pancakes.


Ingredients Pancakes:
375ml milk
300g self-raising flour
3tbsp of cocoa powder
2tsp baking powder
2tbsp caster sugar
4 large eggs
Oil/butter

Chocolate Sauce:
8 tbsp of Nutella 
1 cup of double cream

Method;
Put the flour cocoa powder, baking powder and caster sugar, make a well in the centre and add the eggs and milk, gentry whisk incorporating the flour gradually until you have a thick batter.
Melt butter or use a small drizzle of oil heat a small non-stick saucepan over medium heat until hot, cook the pancakes until the colour changes and large bubble appear on the surface, flip and repeat.

Add the Nutella to the double cream and whisk until smooth and of a slightly thickish constancy, Drizzle chocolate sauce over the pancakes add more cream if desired (optional) serve warm and enjoy.
