1 egg beaten
50g Panko breadcrumbs
Oil for frying
15g butter
15g flour
150ml milk
75g grated Marmite Cheddar Cheese
50ml single cream
Pinch chilli powder
Salt and pepper
First prep the ravioli: Place the breadcrumbs and beaten egg in separate bowls.
- Dip each ravioli in beaten egg, tap off any excess, then roll in the breadcrumbs until lightly coated.
- Set them aside or refrigerate if prepping ahead of time.
- Make the sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan on a medium heat. Stir in the flour until it disappears and starts to bubble.
- Slowly add the milk a little at a time. Bring it to the boil each time before adding more milk. Stir continuously.
- Add the cheese and a pinch of chilli powder. Stir until the cheese has melted.
- Stir in the cream and season with salt and pepper. Gently bring to the boil and take off the heat.
- Heat 1/2cm deep of oil in a large, non-stick frying pan until hot
- On a medium heat, fry the ravioli for 5-7 minutes. You want them to fry quite slowly, so they are golden and crisp but soft in the middle.
- Use a slotted spoon to gently press the air out of them as they fry.
- Divide between two plates. Heat the sauce through if needed and drizzle over the pasta.
Finish with a little black pepper and finely chopped parsley.
